1. There has been a recent spate of cases involving the detection of the novel African Swine Fever virus in meat products illegally carried into Taiwan by travelers. Additionally, there is a growing trend in quarantine cases involving the illegal importation of fried pork skin, food products containing pork floss, and pork sausages via postal parcels from Thailand, as well as dog and cat food and meat-containing processed food products through express delivery from mainland China. Considering the ongoing severity of the African Swine Fever epidemic globally, with Bangladesh recently added to the affected areas in Asia, assistance is requested to reinforce awareness among inbound foreign workers, foreign spouses, foreign individuals, and foreign students regarding the following:

(1) Refrain from bringing meat products and other animal products or in-flight meals into the country upon entry. If mistakenly carried, dispose of them in designated disposal bins or declare and discard them at customs before entry.

(2) Those found carrying pork products from countries (or regions) affected by African swine fever within the past three years shall be subject to penalties. A fine of NT$200,000 shall be imposed on the first offense, and NT$1,000,000 for subsequent offenses. Individuals without residency status who are unable to pay the fine on-the-spot will be referred by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture to the National Immigration Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, which may deny entry of the violator.

(3) Inform relatives and friends abroad not to send meat products or quarantine-restricted items to Taiwan via courier or mail. If pork products from African swine fever-affected countries are sent to Taiwan and confirmed upon inspection, the recipient shall face a fine of NT$200,000 for the first offense and NT$1,000,000 for subsequent offenses.
