As COVID-19 vaccines lose their effectiveness over time and new variants of the disease continue to emerge, a booster shot helps to reduce the risk of breakthrough infection and the probability of serious illness.
Members of the public are advised to get a booster 12 weeks after their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
