Based on safeguarding the rights and interests of mainland spouses and in accordance with the policy of leniency, the Mainland Affairs Council, Executive Yuan, has issued a letter on October 27, 2016, indicating that mainland spouses residing in Taiwan via family ties, permanently residing in Taiwan, or with household registrations (that is, holders of Taiwan ID cards) may now serve as temporary personnel for agencies (institutions) and schools. See the website of the Mainland Affairs Council for the details on this policy.
