What If a Person Has Overstayed the Valid Term of Visit/Resident Visa?

I.Competent authorities under the National Immigration Agency (NIA):
1.Local NIA service centers
2.Local NIA's Specialized Operation Brigades
3.The NIA’s Border Affairs Corps

II.Required documents:
1.Application form
2.Passport or a travel document
3.Flight/cruise ticket due within 7 days
4.Other documents that verify the reason of the overstaying
5.Fine

III.Processing time: upon application

IV.Notices:
1.The applicant must file the application in person, unless he/she is a minor or seriously ill.
2.When a foreign national overstays the valid term of his/her visit/resident visa for no more than 90 days, he/she may apply for an exit permit at the NIA service center of the place of the said person’s residence. Alternatively, the applicant may apply at the NIA’s Border Affairs Corps of an airport (or a port).
3.A foreign national who has overstayed the valid term of his/her visit/resident visa shall be refused entry pursuant to applicable laws. Imposition of penalty and deportation against violators will be under the jurisdiction of the National Immigration Agency.
