As the Mid-autumn Festival is approaching, it is the most joyful time for the whole family to taste mooncakes and barbecue together. The Resource Circulation Administration, Ministry of the Environment reminds you that if you use bottled gas for the portable butane gas stove when barbecuing, you must take these 4 steps of recycling, “confirm that you have used them up, pack them separately, add a warning note, and hand them over to the recovery team,” to protect everyone’s safety!

Bottled gas is a kind of high-pressure bottle and can, which is a recyclable container. The liquid fuel inside the bottles is prone to spark and explode if it is squashed and rubbed. Therefore, in order to ensure the safety of the public and recycling collecting team’s operation, before recycling, the public should make sure that they have finished using the canisters, pack them independently and label them with a warning message of high-pressure canisters inside. Handing them over to the collecting team for recycling instead of throwing them into the compression truck with the garbage may avoid accidental risks caused by careless or laziness.

The Resource Circulation Administration reminds the public that styling lotions, sunscreen sprays, hairsprays, insecticides, and paint sprays, etc., which are commonly found at home, also belong to high-pressure bottles and cans. They should be recycled as well as used up. If they are not used up, please look for an open area to empty them, and do not perforate them on your own to avoid danger. If you have a large number of unsold or expired high-pressure bottles, you may notify the vendors to recycle them. It is also recommended to ask the cleaning/recovery collecting team if you have any questions before disposing of garbage, so as to avoid the danger of fire, explosion, etc., as well as violation of the law and penalties for littering.

The Resource Circulation Administration reiterates that high-pressure bottles must fulfill the four steps of “confirm that you have used them up, pack them separately, add a warning note, and hand them over to the recovery team” to protect the safety of the staff of the first-line cleaning team and the public. “The environmental safety must be done properly, and the recycling steps must not be neglected!” Please separate your garbage properly and enjoy the festival season with happiness and peace of mind!
