As the proportion of new inhabitants’ newborns is increasing, being a newlywed in Taiwan, the upcoming pregnancy plus the culture difference and language barrier can be quite much to handle. To take better care of our new immigrants with the assistance on the childbirth and child raising, the government provides various subsidies and health examination program for our new immigrant mothers raising the next generation.
I. The Ministry of Health and Welfare “Subsidies for Prenatal Check for Pregnant New Inhabitant Not Yet Protected by National Health Insurance” program continued.
To enhance the health status of pregnant new inhabitants who are not yet covered by National health insurance, the “Subsidies for Prenatal Check for Pregnant New Inhabitant Not Yet Protected by National Health Insurance” program is set to look after the health of the mother and the unborn baby and take precautions on possible issues during the pregnancy and while giving birth. Prenatal check is one of the important pregnancy care, as it increases the health and safety of the mother and the baby during the pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period. The original copy of household certificate, resident permit or travel document are required for pregnant new inhabitants to apply to the National Health Bureau in your administrative area.
For a complete support to our new inhabitants during their pregnancy, postpartum and child raising, the HPA (Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare) has been providing Pregnant Women's Health Handbook and Child Health Handbook in different languages (Mandarin-English, Mandarin-Vietnamese, Mandarin-Indonesia, Mandarin-Thai, Mandarin-Cambodian) on a regular basis. II. Meet new life. The Government provides numerous maternity subsidy, childbirth allowance and childcare allowance.
Maternity subsidy is a one-time subsidy which the parents applies and receives upon the registration of newborn child in Household Registration Office. The subsidy is based on the financial status and governance priorities of each municipality, county (city) government or the office of each administrative area, resources within the jurisdiction (ex: official budget, feedback fund or donation). The terms of the subsidy (usually with registration restrictions) and the amount of the subsidy vary from place to place. Please refer to the local government announcement.
III. The HPA (Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare) on "Maternity Care" and "Maternity Caring Line 0800-870-870".

IV. MHW provides "iBaby information service website" for you to be better familiar with everything about having a baby.
iBaby is a one-stop website equipped with information from marriage, pregnancy, giving birth, newborn, to school age and youth.
