On June 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 128 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 128 cases, 127 are indigenous and the other one is imported. The CECC also announced 20 deaths today.


The CECC pointed out that of the 127 indigenous cases, 60 are men and the other 67 are women, aged under 5 to 99 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between June 3 and June 18, 2021. Regarding those indigenous cases, New Taipei City reported most cases, at 81, and Taipei City had the second highest number, at 30. Taoyuan City reported 8 cases; Hsinchu County reported 3 cases; Hsinchu City and Keelung City reported 2 cases each, and Taichung City reported 1.


Regarding the 20 deaths announced today, they were 10 men and 10 women between 50 and 99 years old.


Regarding the new imported case, the case is a Taiwanese male in his teens. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 on May 25 in India, and returned to Taiwan from India on June 5. He tested negative upon arrival. He was tested again on June 18, before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on June 19 (the CT value was 37).


The CECC reported that a total of 1,044,211 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,028,898. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 13,896 cases. Of the 13,896 confirmed cases, 1,163 are imported; 12,680 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and a cumulative total of 98 cases (including 3 newly added) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 538 COVID-19 deaths, of which 531 are indigenous cases and the other 7 are imported.
