MOI Promotes 566 Measures for Passing Through Customs Smoothly During Spring Festival

In response to the increase in the number of arriving and departing passengers during the Spring Festival, the Ministry of the Interior (hereinafter the "MOI") has launched the "566 Measures of Passing Through Immigration for Spring Festival" to allow passengers to pass through customs smoothly during the Spring Festival. Besides, the MOI reminds passengers of not bringing any meat products into Taiwan and of environmental health and hygiene to jointly protect the national security.

The MOI states that "566 Measures of Passing Through Immigration for Spring Festival" is inclusive of three aspects: "enabling 5 technological customs stations", "6 services for passengers going through customs", and "6 reminders for passengers going abroad".

Firstly, in terms of "enabling 5 technological customs stations", at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 Departure Hall, Taipei Songshan Airport, Kaohsiung International Airport, and Kinmen Shuitouport, 33 third-stage e-Gates which are on a service trial and have an artificial intelligence learning, facial recognition when moving, and 40 languages of audio guides to provide a brand new experience for the nationals and foreigners when departing will be established during the Spring Festival.

Secondly, as for "6 services for passengers going through customs", during the Spring Festival, the National Immigration Agency of the MOI will set up 6 services, such as Wifi recycling boxes for departing, a counter for people who have difficulties in moving, a counter for people who have kids, a counter for flights being about to take off, a counter for passengers passing through customs, and red envelops for the Year of the Rat. The services not only increase the efficiency of passengers passing through customs but make them feel the warm atmosphere of the New Year.

Moreover, in the aspect of "6 reminders for passengers going abroad", the NIA reminds the nationals of paying attention to their passports' expiry date, of making use of the public transportation, of checking in early, of making good use of the e-Gate system, and of following the regulations of the African swine fever epidemic prevention and the Wuhan pneumonia prevention and also reminds Civilian Servicemen who were born in the 1990s and haven't performed military service of applying for permits in advance.

The MOI emphasizes that the swine fever epidemic in China has not eased, but the Wuhan pneumonia epidemic has recently occurred. The MOI will continue to work with relevant ministries to assist in strengthening epidemic prevention of borders and reminding passengers of not bringing any meat products into the country to avoid penalties.
