The New Taipei City Government holds the “Water Splashing Festival” every mid-April. The annual event is a boost to local tourism, as visitors can enjoy its multi-cultural charm in the city’s featured shopping areas and cultural attractions. Every year sees approximately 40,000 participants join the event, including Burmese- and Thai-themed festivities, which offer a relief from homesickness for residents from the two countries. In addition, Taiwanese people get to know more about foreign cultures, promoting ethnic harmony.
