Holder of a residence certificate is exempt from applying for a work permit

To improve and ensure the rights of immigrants by marriage, the “Holder of this certificate exempt from applying for a work permit” remark has been added to the resident certificates of foreign and mainland Chinese spouses as of September 16th, 2011.
In accordance with the Employment Services Act and the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland China Area, foreign and mainland Chinese spouses granted residency may, work in Taiwan without a work permit. The same, however, does not apply to other foreigners.
