Identifying children from a Taiwanese-Chinese marriage: Articles 4 and 5 of the Enforcement Rules Governing the Relations Between the People of Taiwan and China have been amended as of May 30, 2018.

According to the Enforcement Rules Governing the Relations Between the People of Taiwan and China Article 4a and Article 5b, if a child from a Taiwanese-Chinese marriage was born in China but is not registered to a household in China or does not have a Chinese passport, and its parents have completed household registration procedures on its behalf in Taiwan within a year of its birth, it will receive the identity of a Taiwanese citizen. A child from a Taiwanese-Chinese marriage whose parents do not complete household registration procedures on its behalf in Taiwan within a year of its birth will be deemed a Chinese citizen.
