Ministry of Health and Welfare’s National Health Insurance Administration announces the implementation of “New Changes in Medical Treatment” since June 1, 2018: ．Do Not Carry Health Insurance Card: If visiting a doctor without bringing a health insurance card, one can get a general prescription. Those who have the chronic disease can get medicine for up to 30 days. 

Losing or Damaging Medicine for Chronic Disease: In showing the original declaration, one can enjoy the payment from the health insurance. If one makes an appointment for seeing a doctor again, one will have to pay for the medicine. 

 Regulation of Using Health Insurance Card as Security for Hospitalization: The original regulation states that hospitalization needs to use the health insurance card as security. Now the health insurance card will be returned to patients after their tests are completed. There is no need to use the health insurance card as security. 

With Doctors’ Professional Diagnosis and Thorough Understanding of Patients’ Situations, Patients Can Ask Someone as the Representative to Get the Medicine for Them: The ward or a person under the assistance and dementia patients are newly added.
