Out of date medicine handling procedure

A. Steps for self disposal of out of date medicine (general pharmaceutical drugs): 1. Poor liquid medicine into a sealable bag. →2. Rinse the emptied bottle with water and pour the rinsed water into the sealable bag. →3. Take the pills out of the foil package or pouches. →4. Put them all in the sealable bag. →5. Take some used tea leaves, coffee grounds or used hand towels and mix them with the liquid medicine and pills. →6. Seal the bag and throw it in a general waste bin. (Most of the waste in Taiwan will be burned in high temperature incinerator, which is in compliance with the principle of the disposal of pharmaceutical drugs) →7. Recycle the clean pouches and bottles in accordance with their material.

B. For expired anti-cancer drugs, we suggest you take them back to the original hospital for disposal.
