Those who have entered the country before March 20, 2020 and have stayed in Taiwan legally and have not exceeded the legal period of stay, who are residents from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, and Taiwan nationals without household registration, will have their period of stay in Taiwan automatically extended for another 30 days without additional application, but it would still be subject to a case-by-case review. For those who have violated laws (regulations) in Taiwan, and those who have been ordered to leave the country (territory) due to violations (abnormal) circumstances, the extension of stay will not be automatically granted. These cases are requested to leave the country in accordance with the restrictions. For details, please consult the immigration service stations or the "Consultation Service Hotline for Foreigners Living in Taiwan (0800-024111)".

Case Example:

A person (perhaps from Mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau, or a Taiwan national without household registration) had an original last day of legal stay in Taiwan of March 21, 2020. This person’s stay was automatically extended by the system 18 times (each extension for 30 days, a total extension of 540 days), the last day of their legal stay was extended to September 12, 2021.  If this person meets the requirements of "having entered Taiwan before March 21, 2020 and is currently staying in Taiwan legally", then the 19th automatic extension of 30 days of legal stay in Taiwan applies. Therefore, after the 19th automatic extension for 30 days, the last day of the person’s legal stay will be extended from September 12, 2021, to October 12, 2021.
