Extension for foreigners who can’t leave Taiwan because of flight restrictions.

In response to foreigners who can’t leave Taiwan because of flight restrictions, NIA has announced a 30-day extension by application and a stamp of departure within a prescribed time frame. There are three types of people, which are Nationals without registered household in the Taiwan Area, People of the Mainland China Area and Hong Kong and Macao residents, can apply the one-time Exit Permit.


Although there are signs that the pandemic is abating, most global travel restrictions have yet to be lifted. In response to foreigners who can’t leave Taiwan because of flight restrictions, the foreigners can apply a 30-day extension. The extension will be expired at 30 days after the original expired date. This measure doesn’t apply to migrant workers because of the policy of Ministry of Labor. There are three types of people, which are Nationals without registered household in the Taiwan Area, People of the Mainland China Area and Hong Kong and Macao residents, can apply the one-time Exit Permit. The permit will be expired at 30 days after the original expired date. People can also apply the residency within dates of the one-time Exit Permit.
