Executive Yuan established “Coordination Meeting on Immigration Affairs” in June 2014 to arrange regular meetings to coordinate and integrate resources of different departments and councils as a way to take care of new immigrants and their children. The Ministry of the Interior’s National Immigrant Agency provides a variety of care and counseling services as well as rewarding measures for new immigrants. Every year many training projects for new immigrants and their children are organized, including scholarships for new immigrant children, training seminars and camps, overseas training projects, and chasing-after-your-dreams projects, which presents new immigrants’ vitality.


‧New Immigrant Children Training Seminars and Camps
The event integrates resources from public and private sectors to let new immigrant children know their own advantages and the current job markets, which will be helpful for them to prepare for future career, internships, and employment. New immigrant children are the future stars and talents for new southbound development.
The seminars include scheduling professional courses with contents mainly related to tourism and marketing and courses about future career development, development of Taiwan and advantages of new immigrants, and introduction to job markets of China and Southeastern Asia. Besides, end-of-course presentations and business visit will be organized for new immigrant children as a way to pave their way for future career.
The registration for “New Immigrant Children Training Seminars and Camps” is in April or May every year. The targets participants are high school or above students who are Taiwanese citizens and reside in Taiwan.

‧New Immigrant Children Overseas Training Project
The New Immigrant Children Overseas Training Project is to encourage new immigrant children visiting their maternal and parental grandparents during vacations to experience cultural exchanges through living with their grandparents and language learning. Through the exchange, the project aims to plant the seeds of nurturing multicultural talents whose abilities of understanding multiple languages and cross-cultural advantages are helpful for connecting with the globe and thereby promoting the development of Taiwan’s economics and expanding their horizon.
“New Immigrant Children Overseas Training Project” includes three categories: Family, Parents and Teachers, and Social Services. The registration for summer session starts in February or March, and participants should learn and experience life overseas at least 14 days. The registration for winter session starts in November or December, and participants should learn and experience life overseas at least 7 days. The targeted participants are new immigrant children, new immigrants, those with legal guardian’s grant, teachers, and professional social workers. Children should be students of Grade 5 or above.


‧New Immigrant Children Chase-After-Your-Dream Project
This project aims to assist new immigrants and their children in fulfilling their dreams through giving out grants. Meanwhile, through videotaping their passion for social participation and contributions to their families, the general public will know more about new immigrants and their children and improve their multicultural literacy and knowledge. Through the interactive way, the general public will feel the governments’ efforts to take care of new immigrants.
The topic of Chase-After-Your Dream Project is determined by participants but should be related to issues of education, family, culture, employment, social services, and life of new immigrants and their children. The review and evaluation of each case is based on the scale of the plan. Each participant or team will be granted the maximum NTD$ 70,000 for the project.
New Immigrant Children Chase-After-Your-Dream Project include two categories: Individual and Family. The registration starts in October or November every year. The targeted participants are new immigrants and their children.


‧Scholarships for New Immigrant Children Project
The project aims to provide apt care, assistance, and rewards for outstanding new immigrants and their children and those from low-income families. It is hoped that scholarships will motivate new immigrants and their children to study hard and lessen their finical burdens, which is the basis of reaching the goal of nurturing Taiwanese talents.
Scholarships for New Immigrant Children Project includes three categories: Outstanding Student Scholarship, Scholarship for Students from Low-Income Families, and Scholarship for Students with Special Talents. The registration starts in February or March every year. The targeted participants are outstanding new immigrants and their children and those from low-income families in Taiwan.

Taiwanese government actively promotes New Southbound Policy. New immigrants and their children have the advantages of knowing multiple languages and cultures, which is a great asset of Taiwan. In the future, Taiwanese government will continue to provide various care and counseling services to let the general public know more about new immigrants’ vitality and increase interaction and mutual understanding.
